Obituary of Maria Schmidt

Mary (Horvath) Schmidt May 27th, 1921 – August 18th, 2020 I would like to thank the Dr’s, nurses and care aides that took care of Mom in her final days. AS one Dr. said, she is one very special tough lady. I also appreciate the kind help I received during that difficult time. Though Mom had a lot of health issues, she lived to 99 years of age and was a true testament of how tough those European farmers were. Mom is the last of the direct line of her family, she was the 3rd of 8 brothers and sisters. She is also predeceased by her husband, Martin and sons Peter and Adam Schmidt. Mom was born and married in former Yugoslavia during the outbreak of WW2. She outran the confusion, fear, and terror of the war. In 1950, she and her young family immigrated to Canada for a better life. She is survived by her son Peter’s children, Jason and Bradley, and great grandchildren and great great grandchildren; son Adam’s child, Martin, and a great grandchild; daughter Rosemarie Girard, and her children, Marie, Kim, and Jason, as well as great grandchildren; daughter Katarina Hebold and her children, Wayne, Chris, Ira, and even more great grandchildren, and great great grand child. While mom was alive, we were a 5 generation family, way to go mom. Goodnight mom, and goodbye, you will be missed.
