Obituary of Clifford Alan Olson
Please share a memory of Clifford to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.
It is with deep sorrow and much love that we mourn the passing of Clifford Alan Olson at the age of 82 of Maple Ridge, British Columbia after a battle with cancer on March 7, 2025.
Cliff will be remembered by his daughter, Tara and her husband Robert, both of the City of Winnipeg Manitoba and by his partner, Rose and by a host of family members and friends.
Cliff was born in Lethbridge, Alberta. At a very young age his family moved back to Birtle, Manitoba. Even though Cliff lived part of his adult life in Winnipeg Manitoba and then in Maple Ridge, British Columbia, a part of his heart never left Birtle.
During Cliff’s time in Birtle, he excelled in several sports including hockey and baseball. He also enjoyed hunting and fur trapping.
Cliff had a love for music. In his early days in Winnipeg, Manitoba, he played with several bands at numerous venues. He played the guitar, banjo and mandolin. After Cliff’s move to Maple Ridge, he continued to enjoy music, especially playing the guitar. He and several friends met often to “jam”.
Fly fishing was a passion for Cliff! He loved to cast a fly for trout and salmon on the Pitt, Harrison, and Fraser Rivers, and especially enjoyed fishing in the ocean waters off Northern BC. He tied flies, finished fly rods and he was a former member of the Osprey Fly Fishers of BC, having held a variety of executive positions there.
In honor of Cliff’s final wishes, some of his remains will be spread at one of his favorite fishing spots on the Pitt River, some will be spread over the Bird Tale River in Birtle, and some will be place in the graveside with his parents.
He will be remembered for all the heart he shared with his friends and family. He truly loved each of them- and if you knew him, you knew it. He will truly be missed.
In typical Cliff fashion, there are no services planned.
