Obituary of Paul James Henry

Please share a memory of Paul to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.

Paul passed away peacefully on March 22, 2025, at the age of 72. Paul’s spirit is carried on by his wife Gen; their children Morgan (Adam), Dana (Derek), and Nathan; and grandchildren Owen, Leah, and Declan. Preceding him in peace were his parents Albert and Edna along with his brothers Larry and Cliff.

Paul was born January 23,1953, in Victoria, the youngest in a family of 3 boys. He grew up with a passion for photography, music, and boating.

As a young adult, Paul worked in many Provincial Parks from Manning to Garibaldi where many lasting memories were made. He met his future wife Gen while working at Manning Park, and they eventually settled in Maple Ridge where they raised their family. Paul worked as the Storekeeper/Buyer for the District of Maple Ridge and continued to develop his hobbies of woodworking, gardening, travelling and cooking.

At the age of 55 Paul was diagnosed with Parkinson’s Disease. Despite the toll the disease took on his body, Paul never lost his sense of humor nor the mischievous twinkle in his eyes. He will be most remembered for his dry wit, his adventurous cooking, and his belief that things could always be improved upon! Paul’s love for woodworking created many special projects that will be cherished by his family for years to come.

Special thanks to the staff of Maple Ridge Seniors Village and Ridge Meadows Hospital for the care they provided to Paul. A Celebration of Life will be held later this summer. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Parkinson Society of British Columbia.
