Obituary of Anne Margaret Schaffar

Please share a memory of Anne to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.

It is with immense sadness the family of Anne Schaffar announces her  passing on March 29, 2025 in Maple Ridge, B.C.  Anne was born in  Gillingham, England on January 1, 1942 to William and Ivy Jolliffe, and was the 2nd of 5 children.

Anne is predeceased by her parents, brothers James and Hugh, and her  2nd husband, Hans Schaffar.

She is survived by her everloving daughters Kim (Larry), Tracey (Dave),  Alison (Dwayne) and 7 grandchildren:  Alana (Albert), Paige, Jemma, Casey,  Zacary, Jake and Sophie.  Anne also became a great grandma to Milo last  year.

Anne is survived by siblings Barry (Chris) and Hilary, along with many  special nieces and nephews.

Anne trained and worked as a pediatric nurse in England, during which time she met and married her first husband, Ken. Their 3 girls were born in England and in 1972 the family moved and made Canada home. They worked hard to provide a good life for the family, including trips that  created lifelong memories.

Later, a new chapter for Anne included a career working at UBC Hospital  and marriage to Hans Schaffar.

We have come to know in the last while that Mum’s quiet kindness and  generosity touched many lives. She had meaningful friendships and  connections, and was appreciated for her work ethic, intelligence and  sense of humour. Anne was an avid gardener and knitter, who adored our  family time and trips. Over the last several years, Anne was happily  involved with her Church and volunteered in numerous ways; especially  delighting in visiting and ministering in the local Seniors homes.

A service and reception to help celebrate Anne’s life will be held on May 8,  2025 - 11A.M. at St. John the Divine Anglican Church, 21299 River Road,  Maple Ridge, B.C.

In lieu of flowers, please consider a donation to World Vision or St. John  the Divine Anglican Church.
