August 11, 1932 – April 30, 2025

Vicky Denton (nee Roshchuk) peacefully departed this world to join her beloved husband of 64 years, Donald. Vicky is survived by her children: Don /Joanne, Diane/Shane, and Darrell/Cari-Lee; her grandchildren and great-grandchildren: Mathew/Emily (Noah, Aiden), Tyler/Maria (Autumn, Izzy, Madeline), Nolan/Malory (Silas), Nicholas/Heather (Maisie), Spencer/Emily (Daniel), Laina/James (Briella, Jax, Elias, Parker, Arlo, Oaklen, Hartlen), Cole and Parker; siblings Mary, Stella, Joe, Kazmir and Lorea; extended family Steve/Kerri and Marcus Mitton; and grand-dog Obi.

Vicky was born on the family farm in Poplarfield, Manitoba to homesteaders Wasyl and Sofia Roshchuk who had immigrated from Ukraine and Poland. She was one of 10 siblings, working on the farm, caring for her younger siblings and attending school. She met her future husband, Don in Winnipeg where she was living with her sister Mary. Before their first anniversary, Don and Vicky moved to Burnaby before finally settling in Maple Ridge on an 8-acre hobby farm where they raised their children, cows, pigs, chickens, dogs, cats, and many gardens. Vicky became close with her neighbours and friends from church, thriving in her role as homemaker, mother and “farm manager”. Later, in retirement, Vicky and Don moved to smaller properties in Maple Ridge, Mission, and Pitt Meadows and, after Don’s passing, Vicky moved to supportive living in Maple Ridge, and Coquitlam. Vicky loved to host family, friends, bible study groups and especially her grandchildren in her home, cooking family dinners into her 80’s. Vicky and Don loved traveling in their motorhome throughout BC, Calgary, Winnipeg, “down south” to California and Arizona for several weeks each winter, and to the annual “extended family campout” at Shuswap Lake. Vicky was strong in her faith and always quick with a joke, a kind word, a recipe, a bible story and a hug. Vicky, Mom, Grandma, Great-Grandma, treasured sister will be remembered for her faith, hard work, authentic perogy dinners, donut-making festivals, mini-toy collections, beautiful gardens, and family legacy. We wish Vicky and Don peace, joy and laughter on their next adventure together.

Vicky’s family is forever grateful for the incredible care provided to her these past 15 months by staff at Belvedere Care Centre in Coquitlam, BC, especially in her final weeks. Your patience, diligence and unwavering support of Vicky and her family is a testament to your professionalism and compassion.

Vicky will be laid to rest with her loving husband Don at Valley View Cemetery, South Surrey, BC on May 8,2025 at 12:00 pm by her family.
