In Loving Memory of Kenneth Malcolm Ally
April 26, 1936 – May 18, 2025
It is with immense sadness that the family of Kenneth Malcolm Ally announces his passing on May 18, 2025 in Maple Ridge, B.C.
Ken was born in Enmore, British Guyana, on April 26, 1936 to Akbar and Wilhelmina Ally; the second of thirteen children. He is predeceased by his parents and brothers Russell, Ronald and Henry.
He is survived by his devoted wife of thirty-three years, Michaela; son Nevil (Diana); daughters Kim (Larry), Tracey (Dave), Alison (Dwayne), and Stephanie (Julian); and nine beloved grandchildren: Alana (Albert), Paige, Jemma, Casey, Zacary, Jake, Lauren, Sophie, and Mircea. Ken became a proud great-grandfather to Milo last year. He is lovingly remembered by many siblings, cousins, nieces, nephews and friends along with his faithful pup, Czech.
Ken embarked on his first great journey in February 1961, immigrating to England aboard the ocean liner M/V Irpinia via the Atlantic Ocean. There, he met and married his first wife, Anne and trained as a Registered Psychiatric Nurse. Through his desire for growth, he became a State Registered Nurse.
In 1972, Ken moved to Canada, beginning a new chapter in his life and continuing his career in nursing. He worked at Woodlands Hospital then Sunny Hill Health Centre for Children, where he discovered a true passion for pediatric nursing—along with his loving wife, Michaela.
Ken will be remembered for his infectious laughter, sharp wit, thoughtful nature, love of learning, and his rare gift for truly listening. He embraced life fully—whether travelling to sun-soaked destinations, exploring the vast beauty of Canada from coast to coast, or engaging with people from all walks of life. He appreciated life’s simple pleasures: a good rum and coke, a compelling biography, and the quiet ritual of writing in his daily journal.
Above all, Ken’s heart was with his family. He took immense pride in their achievements, both big and small, and his love for each of them ran deep.
Ken inspired us with his quiet strength and unwavering courage. He faced esophageal cancer with dignity and determination, but after a long and valiant battle, he passed away peacefully, surrounded by love.
The family would like to deeply thank Ken’s incredible medical team:
Dr. Davidicus Wong, Dr. Linda Bohacek, Dr. James Bond, Dr. Maha Almahmudi, Dr. Sanji Ahmad Ali and Dr. Michelle Little.
A private niche interment will be held at the Fraser Cemetery (Quail “B”) later this summer. In lieu of flowers, please consider a donation to the SPCA, a cause close to Ken’s heart and one he supported monthly.
