Obituary of Catherine McGregor Bain

Catherine McGregor BAIN “Rena” (nee Buchan)

Born on April 05, 1931 in Polmont, Scotland, our dear “Auntie Rena”, age 94, passed away peacefully at the McKenney Creek Hospice on 15 July 2025.  She has been reunited with her loving husband Ron and her beloved son David, along with so many other members of our Scottish clan.  We are certain she was greeted by a hail of bagpipes for a true celebration in heaven.

Aunt Rena leaves behind her three nieces, Cath, Fiona and Lorna, and their families who already miss her dearly.  She also leaves so many dear friends, from Maple Ridge, notably her cherished “wee best pal” Elspeth, and longtime friends in Ontario, Edmonton, the Philippines as well as her extended family in Maine and Scotland.   Our Aunt Rena was a person who genuinely cared about people and she captured hearts everywhere she went.   We have all been so blessed to know and love her.

Our family is so grateful for all of the Fraser Health Home Care Aides and for all of the doctors, nurses, care aides and volunteers who took such great care of her at McKenny Creek Hospice.  During our stay there you became ‘family’ to all of us.  Your kindness and compassion go above and beyond and we could never thank you enough.

A service to celebrate Rena’s life will be held on Sunday August 17, 2025, at 1:00 PM at Garden Hill Funeral Home located at 11765 224th Street, Maple Ridge, BC
