Obituary of Dick Huber
Richard Robert “Dick” Huber
November 28, 1943 – January 11, 2026
Richard Robert Huber, known to most simply as Dick, passed peacefully on January 11, 2026, surrounded by his family.
Dick was born on November 28, 1943, in Saskatchewan. In the early years of his life, his family relocated west to British Columbia, settling in the Vancouver area. From there, Dick built a life in the Lower Mainland one defined by compassion, commitment, and deep ties to the community he was proud to call home.
Dick believed in staying active, engaged, and moving forward. He was a businessman who valued integrity and follow-through, and a REALTOR who understood that behind every transaction was a family, a future, and a story unfolding. He took pride in doing things the right way and in the relationships he built over decades.
In his younger years, Dick was a boxer, developing the discipline and resolve that stayed with him for life. That strength later showed itself through service as a soccer coach and Scout leader, where he quietly shaped young lives by simply showing up, week after week. Running was a lifelong passion for Dick a constant that reflected how he lived: steady, focused, and committed to putting one foot in front of the other.
Dick is survived by his loving partner, Heather, who shared his life and daily rhythms. He leaves behind his sisters, Dorothy and Heather, and his brother, Rudi. He was predeceased by his brother, Wayne, whose loss he carried with him.
He was the proud father of Katherine, Ken, Mike, and Chris, and the steady centre of what he often described as a true “modern family”. His life, like many families today, included marriages and new beginnings, divorce and loss, and births that brought renewed joy and hope. Over time, families blended, paths shifted, and relationships evolved yet Dick remained the constant presence, valuing connection over convention and people over labels.
His legacy continues through his eleven grandchildren, with great-grandchildren now beginning to join the family story an ever-growing reflection of a life that kept expanding rather than narrowing.
While it is difficult to imagine life without him, there is comfort in knowing that our lives and the community he proudly called home are better because Dick was part of them. Maple Ridge was more than a place to live; it was where he belonged.
We would also like to extend our deepest gratitude to the incredible staff at Ridge Meadows Hospital. Your compassion, professionalism, and exceptional care meant more to our family than words can express during such a difficult time. Your kindness will never be forgotten.

Dick’s legacy lives on in the people he loved, the lives he influenced, the family houses he sold, that became friends and homes. A quiet example of a life lived with purpose.
