Dawn Green Obituary

Dawn Ellen Green, born on September 23, 1957, was a devoted wife, loving mother, daughter, sister, and a woman whose strength, compassion, and vibrant spirit shaped everyone who knew her.

Dawn married the love of her life, Grant, in 1976, beginning a beautiful life together built on love, partnership, and shared adventures. They loved to camp, host family and friends, and create a welcoming home filled with laughter, warmth, and connection. Though the prairies were Grant’s home, traveling back east was something Dawn truly cherished, holding those journeys and the memories they created close to her heart.

Together, Dawn and Grant raised three beautiful children—John, David, and Lindsey—who were the center of Dawn’s world. She cherished her children with her entire being, was immensely proud of the people they became, and carried that pride into every part of her life.

Dawn was a loving daughter and sister, roles she carried with deep care, loyalty, and affection. Family meant everything to her, and she showed her love through her presence, understanding, and unwavering support.

Dawn was an amazing and hardworking mother and a true pioneer in her career with the United Food and Commercial Workers (UFCW). Her work with the union touched countless lives, as she served not only as a representative but often as a counselor and confidant to those in need. Dawn had a rare gift for listening, understanding, and advocating. She always fought fiercely for the underdog, was fair in her judgment, fearless in her convictions, and brought warmth and even fun to the most difficult situations.

She loved her grandchildren deeply and took great joy in each of them. Her first grandchild was Oliver, born to John, followed by Marika and Hannah, born to David, and Misaki and Rylee, to Lindsey. Later came sweet Alex, born to John and Sao, along with Akbar and Ayesha, all of whom brought her immense happiness. Dawn’s love for her grandchildren was boundless, and they each held a very special place in her heart.

True to her generous and social spirit, Dawn often spoke lovingly of her friends as “a beautiful bouquet of flowers.” She deeply treasured each friendship and delighted in long conversations, happily talking and catching up for hours. Her friends were a vital part of her life, bringing her joy, laughter, and connection that she held close to her heart.

Dawn’s kindness, strength, and love will live on through her husband, children, grandchildren, family, her beautiful bouquet of friends, and all those whose lives she touched. She will be deeply missed and forever remembered.
