Philip Jeffrey Kane Obituary

It is with great sadness that the family of Philip Jeffrey Kane announce his passing  on January 18, 2026, in Maple Ridge, BC.

Philip was born in Surrey, England, on January 12, 1958, to Pat and Peter Kane. At  the age of 8 years old, he and the family set sail for Canada aboard the Cunard  Line ship, Carmania. Upon arrival at Montreal, they travelled by train to British  Columbia where they settled in Maple Ridge.

Philip excelled at school and had a lifelong interest in history, current events and  interesting facts which he always enjoyed sharing with family and friends. The  latter he gleaned from the latest World Almanac which was his favourite  Christmas gift every year. He also subscribed to numerous current affair publications which further deepened his knowledge and understanding.

As a Mental Health and Drug Addictions Worker, Philip started his career at  Riverview Hospital in 1983 before moving to the Forensic Psychiatric Institute in  2008. After a long and satisfying career, he retired in 2023.

He devoted himself to his family, enjoying time with his niece and nephews, and providing companionship and loving care to his parents. He found pleasure in  trips to the Oregon Coast, taking his Mother there three times and listening to  classical music most of the way. He enjoyed keeping up with local and  international current affairs, and playing many rousing games of Mexican Train,  many of which he won due to his superior strategy. His patience, kindness and  willingness to help others was his nature and a source of great appreciation from his family.

Preceded in death by his father Peter, Philip is survived by his mother Pat, his  sister Alison (John), his niece Laura, nephews David and Thomas, as well as  relatives in the UK.

A memorial service will be held on Saturday, February 28, 2026, at 2:00pm at  Haney Presbyterian Church, 11858 216 Street, Maple Ridge. Expressions of  sympathy can be made at www.gardenhill.ca.
