Joan Marie Louise Cresswell, Nee: Summers

In Anyox, BC, on Feb. 4, 1934, Joan Marie Louise was born to Richard and Jean Summers. She was eldest sister to Nona (Bennett), Diana (Jesperson) and Linda (Brown). She married in 1991 to Albert (Dick) Cresswell. She lived mainly in the lower mainland throughout her life, calling Anmore, B.C. home for the last 35 years.

Joan loved her life and the peaceful woodland setting with husband Dick. Home, with the familiar and comforts was a good place to be. Music filled her soul, from sharing her own beautiful singing voice and harmonies in choirs and groups to appreciating opera, symphony and musicals. Travelling adventures delighted her! As for her family and friends, she was genuinely interested, cared deeply and enjoyed times shared. She was highly valued for her dedication and excellent skills in her long career as executive secretary for Tahsis Forestry and Logging/East Asiatic Company.

Over the past number of years, she was afflicted with painful, disabling ailments, necessitating 3 ½ months of full care in hospital. Support from family and friends, numerous caregivers at home and in hospital, along with her faith and love of Jesus, sustained her through those many challenges. On Jan. 18th, 2026, Joan passed away peacefully in Eagle Ridge Hospital with her devoted husband by her side.

Joan will be remembered as a beautiful person with many endearing qualities: thoughtful, kindhearted, loving, helpful, meticulous, compassionate and charitable to her many worthy causes, to name a few. She was an inspiration to many of us and will be greatly missed!
