Ruth Paulette Rich Obituary

RICH, Ruth Paulette

(Nee Barber)

Ruth passed into the arms of her Saviour Jesus on the afternoon of January 29, 2026.

She fought a courageous battle against the debilitating effects of Alzheimer’s for many years. She fought it with grace, dignity and faith.

Ruth was born in New Denver, B.C. and was raised in Maple Ridge.

After graduating from Maple Ridge Secondary, her first job was at Altair Aviation at the Pitt Meadows Airport. From there she began a great 35+ year career with Vancouver Health Dept / Greater Vancouver Health, finishing with a position as Senior Administrative Co-ordinator with the Health Inspectors Unit.

Ruth was predeceased by her mom and dad, Paul and Velo Barber, and by two brothers, David and Doug Barber.

She is also remembered by sisters-in-law; Annie – Victoria, Frances – Courtenay, B.C., Brothers-in-law, David – Black Creek, B.C., Barry – Clearwater, B.C., Bruce of North Bay, Ontario as well as many, many nieces and nephews.

Ruth is survived by her husband of 42 years, Terry, her sister-in-law Maria, of Mission, B.C., and Beth of Canberra, Australia.

Ruth and Terry were very blessed to be able to share many camping trips, road trips, and holidays together.

Many heartfelt thanks to the wonderful staff at Fellburn Lodge in Burnaby, who took such loving care of Ruth in the last year.

Donations may be made to:

Mission Aviation Fellowship or Willingdon Church’s Worship Arts Team.

A Celebration of Life will be held on April 25th at 10:00 AM at South Vancouver Community Church, 54th and Nanaimo.
