With deep sadness, we announce the passing of Catherine Leigh Savege on Saturday, January 31st, at Ridge Meadows Hospital in Maple Ridge, British Columbia. Leigh was born on January 22, 1957, and will be lovingly remembered for her kindness, generosity, and unwavering sense of community.

Leigh is survived by her brother Dale (Vale) Savege; her sisters Mary Aye and April Savege; her sister- in-law Carol Savege; her nephew Blair Savege (Claire); her nieces Jill Savege (Jordon Rapp) and Cara Cocco (Lorenzo); and many cousins. She was predeceased by her brother John Savege; her parents, Juanita and Henry Savege; and her nephew Arden Savege.

Leigh spent her first twelve years in Pitt Meadows, where she attended Pitt Meadows Elementary School. Her family later moved to Maple Ridge, where she attended Yennadon Elementary School for Grade 7 and graduated from Garibaldi Secondary School in 1975.

Growing up, Leigh was deeply involved in the Pitt Meadows Pony Club, founded by her mother, and later represented the Maple Ridge Pony Club for many years. She competed in equestrian events, with jumping competitions being her favorite. In her younger years, she also completed her Red Cross swimming levels.

After graduation, Leigh spent several years away from Maple Ridge before returning home and enrolling in Culinary School in Vancouver. She became a talented chef, delighting family and friends with many delicious meals prepared with care and love. Leigh was very proud of her work as a chef and it led to many adventures.

Leigh began working with H.E.L.P. Now Christian Fellowship in 2021 and was involved with outreach to the unhoused 6 nights a week which then led to her working nights at a temporary winter shelter 2022-2023. Later Leigh joined one of the Home Groups at the church she attended and was seen as an example of how to live as a Christian.

The family would like to extend their deepest thanks and appreciation to Leigh's cousin, Sherry Ure, who stood faithfully by Leigh's side throughout her journey. Your kindness and devotion will always   remain in our hearts.

Leigh will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved her.

There will be a service for Catherine Leigh at Maple Ridge Alliance Church, 20399 Dewdney Trunk Road, at 1PM on Saturday 07 March 2026.
