Charlotte Nsonga Tshibangu, beloved mother, sister, friend, nurse, and woman of faith, returned to God on Friday, March 27, 2026, after a courageous battle with cancer. She passed away peacefully, lovingly surrounded by family and friends.

Known to many as “Mama Charlotte,” she leaves behind her twin daughters, Chantal and Michelle Tshimanga. She was predeceased by her beloved husband, “Papa Camille,” Makenga Kamilu Tshimanga (1946–2010).

Charlotte was born on June 25, 1950, in Mbuji-Mayi, Democratic Republic of Congo, to her parents, Tshibangu Mattheus and Kapinga Tshilomba. Following in her father’s footsteps, she built a long, successful, and varied career in nursing. Her nursing career spanned many specialties. She began in rural obstetrics and perinatal nursing in the Congo, then later worked in acute care and medicine at Ridge Meadows Hospital and Langley Memorial Hospital. She concluded her career as a foot care nurse, serving patients throughout the Lower Mainland.

A devout Catholic, Charlotte attributed her resilience and strength to her unwavering faith in God. Even in the face of illness, her faith never faltered. She was an active member of St. Patrick’s Parish in Maple Ridge and participated in many church groups, events, and weekly Masses whenever she was able.

Charlotte had a generous heart and devoted much of her life to serving others. She volunteered both her time and her professional talents to many organizations in her community. She also loved reading, travelling, doing word searches, and sewing, a skill at which she excelled.

Memorial services will be held on Friday, April 17, 2026. The day will begin with a Funeral Mass at St. Patrick’s Parish in Maple Ridge at 11:00 a.m., followed by her burial at Gardens of Gethsemani at 2:00 p.m. A celebration of Charlotte’s life will follow at 5:00 p.m. at the Albion Community Centre in Maple Ridge.
