Konstadinos "Kostas" Rokanas Obituary
It is with great sadness that the family of Konstadinos (Kostas) Rokanas announces his passing. He was born on May 22, 1948, in Amaliada, Greece, and passed away peacefully in Vancouver, Canada, on April 1, 2026, at the age of 77.
Kostas was a man defined by kindness, generosity, and a gentle spirit that touched everyone who knew him. Larger than life in the way he loved, gave, and showed up for others, his presence filled every room and every heart. A devoted husband to his beloved wife, Maria, and a proud father to his son Demetri, and daughter Vicky, who was "daddy's little girl."
He lived with spontaneous joy that made life brighter for those around him. Whether through a warm conversation, a shared laugh, a thoughtful gesture, or simply his presence, he made people feel valued and cared for.
Kostas was an accomplished builder in construction, and a successful restaurateur, building a legacy of hard work, integrity, and dedication.
He was also a deeply committed member of the Greek community of East Vancouver, always ready to lend a helping hand. His generosity of time and spirit made a lasting impact, and he will be remembered as someone who uplifted others and strengthened the bonds of community.
Kostas was deeply involved with music, playing and listening to it viscerally, often for countless hours at a time. Music was not just something he enjoyed—it was something he felt, bringing energy, happiness, and connection to his life and to those around him. He shared a special bond over music with his son-in-law, Dimitri, spending meaningful time together listening, playing, and connecting through their shared passion.
He was an incredible grandfather who cherished his grandchildren, Konstadinos, Eirini, and Vasili. They were a constant source of pride and joy in his life, and his love for them was boundless.
He leaves behind his loving wife, Maria, his children Demetri and Vicky, who will carry forward his legacy of love and generosity.
Above all, Kostas will be remembered for his loving heart and the deep care he showed to his family and friends. His legacy lives on in the values he instilled, the lives he touched, and the love he gave so freely.
The funeral service will be held on April 14, 2026, at 11:00 a.m. at Saints Nicholas and Dimitrios Greek Orthodox Church, located at 4541 Boundary Road, Vancouver, BC V5R 2N5.
He will be deeply missed and forever remembered.
May his memory be eternal.
