Joyce Ann Clegg Obituary
Joyce Ann Clegg (Matheson)
It is with great sadness that the family of Joyce announce her passing on April 22, 2026, in South Surrey, BC.
Joyce was born in Vancouver, BC, on September 29, 1942.
Predeceased by her parents, Bob and Margaret Matheson and cousin Dr. Jack Taunton.
Survived by Cousin, Patti Crowdis and family, and the family of Dr. Jack Taunton.
Joyce loved her time on Gambier Island
She grew up and went to school in West Vancouver and worked in the Lumber Industry until she retired to Gambier Island. But, her best times were summers growing up and living on the Island.
She talked often of her great adventures with friends who were also spending summers on Gambier.
Once she retired, she enjoyed being a member of the Advisory Committee for Route 3 – BC Ferries – and being a member of the Island Trust.
Joyce was always happiest with having her many pets around her until she had to go into care at Suncrest Retirement Community in South Surrey in 2020.
The Family has conveyed their gratitude to the staff of the Suncrest Retirement Community for their wonderful care and dedication over the past few years.
Now Joyce is freed from the bonds of dementia and is able to organize and socialize with friends and family who have gone on ahead of her.
There will be no service at Joyce’s request.
In lieu of flowers please consider a donation to the charity of your choice.
