Kevin Olaer Obituary
It is with profound sorrow and heavy hearts that the family of Lord Kevin Ayson Olaer announces his untimely passing on May 30, 2026, in Maple Ridge, British Columbia, Canada. His sudden departure has left an immeasurable void in the lives of his family, relatives, friends, classmates, and everyone who had the privilege of knowing him. Kevin tragically lost his life following a fatal stabbing incident in Maple Ridge involving several unidentified individuals. His passing has deeply affected all who loved him, and his family continues to mourn the loss of a son, a brother, a nephew, a grandson, a cousin, and a loyal friend whose life ended far too soon.
Kevin was born on October 2, 1997, in Jagna, Bohol, Philippines. As the firstborn and only son of Marizel Ayson and Gerald Olaer, he brought immeasurable joy to his family from the very beginning. He shared a close bond with his younger sister, Lauryn, and together they created many cherished childhood memories. During Kevin's early years, their family enjoyed a happy and peaceful life. However, as with many Filipino families striving for a brighter future, circumstances eventually led both of his parents to seek employment overseas. Their difficult decision was driven by love and the hope of providing better opportunities for their children, even though it meant being apart from them. Kevin and Lauryn were lovingly cared for by their grandmother, who became an important source of guidance, affection, and stability in their lives. Her home was filled with love, discipline, and values that helped shape Kevin into the person he would become. Tragically, the family suffered another heartbreaking loss when their grandmother passed away following a vehicular accident. This devastating event marked one of the most difficult chapters of Kevin's young life. Following their grandmother's passing, Kevin and Lauryn were taken into the care of their aunt, who embraced the responsibility of raising them with unconditional love and dedication. Under her guidance, Kevin was provided with a nurturing environment, quality education, and a strong Christian foundation. He was raised with values of kindness, humility, perseverance, compassion, and respect for others—qualities that remained evident throughout his life.
Kevin's educational journey reflected both his curiosity and determination. He began his elementary education at Guindulman Central Elementary School before continuing at Bohol Wisdom School in Tagbilaran City. Throughout his childhood, he displayed an eagerness to learn and enjoyed participating in school activities while building lasting friendships. For his secondary education, Kevin attended Immaculate Heart of Mary Seminary in Taloto, Tagbilaran City. His years at the seminary played a meaningful role in strengthening his faith, developing discipline, and shaping his character. Later, he transferred to the University of Bohol, where he completed his high school education. Regardless of where life took him, Kevin was remembered by classmates and teachers as someone who could easily make friends, brighten a room with his humor, and bring positive energy to those around him. After high school, Kevin enrolled at the University of Cebu, where he initially pursued a degree in Marine Engineering. Like many young adults searching for their true purpose, he eventually realized that his passion lay elsewhere. Rather than continuing down a path that did not fully inspire him, Kevin courageously chose to follow his heart. Inspired by his uncle, whom he admired deeply, Kevin dreamed of one day becoming a physician. This dream motivated him to shift his studies to Psychology, intending to use it as his pre-medical course. He embraced this new direction with dedication and enthusiasm, excelling academically while developing a deeper understanding of human behavior, compassion, and service to others. Those who knew him believed he possessed both the intelligence and empathy necessary to become an outstanding healthcare professional. Kevin was only one step away from earning his Psychology degree. Unfortunately, before he could complete this important milestone, another opportunity called him overseas. He made the difficult decision to move to Canada to reunite with his mother and begin a new chapter of life. Like many immigrants, Kevin carried with him hopes of building a brighter future—not only for himself, but also for his loved ones. He embraced the challenges of starting over in a new country with courage, resilience, and optimism. Outside academics and work, Kevin was someone who truly appreciated life's simple joys. Basketball was one of his greatest passions. Whether playing competitively, practicing with friends, or simply watching games, basketball brought him happiness and a sense of belonging. He also loved playing computer games, which allowed him to relax, connect with friends, and enjoy moments of friendly competition. Kevin was known for his cheerful personality, approachable nature, and genuine kindness. He loved spending time with his circle of friends, sharing laughter, creating unforgettable memories, and supporting those around him. His humor could brighten difficult days, and his loyalty made him someone people could always rely on. He valued friendship deeply and believed that life's greatest moments were those shared with others. Moving to Canada, marked a meaningful new chapter in Kevin's life. After years of being apart, he was finally reunited with his mother, Marizel, and had the opportunity to build new memories with his family. The reunion was something he had long looked forward to, and despite the challenges of adjusting to life in a new country, Kevin embraced every moment with hope and gratitude. At home, Kevin found comfort and happiness in the company of his loved ones. He shared a close and affectionate bond with his mother, whose presence meant so much to him after years of separation. He also enjoyed spending time with his beloved sister, Lauryn, and his younger brother, Axzel. Whether they were sharing meals, laughing over simple conversations, celebrating special occasions, or simply enjoying each other's company at home, these ordinary moments became some of Kevin's most treasured memories. Canada gave Kevin more than a fresh start—it gave him the priceless opportunity to experience life as a family once again. Those who knew him during this time often noticed how genuinely happy he was. His warm smile became even brighter, his laughter more frequent, and his optimism for the future stronger. He embraced family life wholeheartedly, cherishing every opportunity to create memories with those he loved most. Kevin remained the same joyful and outgoing person everyone had always known. He loved playing basketball, spending time outdoors, and enjoying computer games. He quickly formed friendships within the community and continued to bring laughter wherever he went. His kindness, sense of humor, and caring nature made him someone people naturally gravitated toward. Whether with family, friends, or coworkers, Kevin had a remarkable ability to make others feel welcome and valued. Above all, Kevin treasured the gift of togetherness. After years of life's uncertainties and hardships, being reunited with his family brought him a sense of peace and fulfillment. Although his time with them in Canada was far too short, the love, laughter, and unforgettable memories they shared will forever remain a source of comfort to those he leaves behind. Kevin's life reminds us that happiness is often found not in grand achievements but in the simple moments spent with the people we love. His joyful spirit, compassionate heart, and unwavering love for his family will continue to inspire all who were blessed to know him. To his family, Kevin was much more than a son or a brother. He represented hope, perseverance, and unconditional love. Though life presented him with numerous hardships—from family separation to personal loss—he continued moving forward with remarkable resilience. His story reflects the quiet strength of a young man who continued to dream despite adversity. Kevin's life reminds us that a person's impact is not measured by the number of years they live, but by the kindness they show, the relationships they build, and the love they leave behind. While his dreams remain unfinished, the legacy of his compassion, determination, and joyful spirit will continue to inspire everyone whose lives he touched. He leaves behind his loving mother, Marizel Ayson; his father, Gerald Olaer; his beloved sister, Lauryn; and his beloved brother, Axzel; his devoted relatives, Ayson Family and Olaer Family; cherished friends; former classmates; mentors; and countless others who will forever treasure the memories they shared with him.
Although Kevin's earthly journey has come to an end, his love, laughter, dreams, and beautiful spirit will forever remain alive in the hearts of those who knew him.
