It is with deep sadness and much love that we mourn the passing of Loretta Jane Lloyd, age 85 of Port Coquitlam, BC. She passed away peacefully on June 12, 2026 at Eagle Ridge Hospital.

Loretta (She preferred to be called "Dragon Lady” ) was born on November 9, 1940 in Vancouver, BC and was the daughter of Lucy Lee. Born in the Year of the Dragon, her first grandson called her Dragon Lady, and it stuck. She graduated from Quapplelle Diocesan School 1957. She was from the very beginning a fiercely independent person, and although she did not enjoy the fetters of the nuns, she proved herself a strong student academically and musically. She excelled at Track and Field .... and terrorizing nuns.

She worked for decades as a dispatcher at Mundy’s Towing, and the drivers regarded her with trust, respect .... and a little fear.  She was a force of nature, incredibly organized and disciplined. Outside of work, she raised Troy, Kelly, Chad, and a collection of animals including two Great Danes bigger than she was, and even a small monkey, as her house became an unofficial animal shelter. She enjoyed food, including lobster eating with James, and Chinese bakeries with Shelby. She enjoyed travelling, with Hawaii, Niagara Falls, and annual trips to Nova Scotia and Peggy’s Cove being favourites. She also enjoyed true crime - watching, not committing, although she excelled at intricate plans of revenge. More than anything, she had a wicked sense of humour and could find the humour in any situation.

She is lovingly survived by her children Troy (Amber), Kelly (Jaycne), and Chad (Judy), her grandchildren Adam, Hailee, Shelby, Mason, Brody, Justin, James (Sophia), Ainsley (Quinn), and Callie, her great grandchildren Avani, Sakai, and Edmund, and beloved cat Charli. She was predeceased by her mother Lucy Lee, grandchild Chase Thomas Allan Weber, and best friend Hilda Bartlett. 

A Celebration of Life will be held on Thursday, June 18, 2026 at 10 am at Garden Hill Funeral Services, 11765 224th St., Maple Ridge, with viewing to start at 9 am. All who loved Dragon Lady are welcome to attend . In lieu of flowers, the family welcomes donations made to The Canadian Cancer Society or BC Lung Foundation.
