Rosemary Anne Fey McIntyre Obituary
Rosemary Anne Fey McIntyre (April 1, 1926 - June 27, 2026)
Rosemary was born on April 1, 1926 in London, England to Beryl and Cyril Pinch. She was the fourth child and only daughter with three older brothers, Eric, Owain and Ivor.
She "weathered the storm of WW II" in Norfolk, losing her brother Eric on the battlefields of Europe. She contributed to the war effort in England, and was awarded two Red Cross Medals for First-Aid and Nursing.
In the early 1950s, she took the courageous decision to immigrate to Canada all alone. She arrived by ship to the East Coast and crossed all of Canada by train, arriving in Vancouver.
Shortly thereafter, she met and married William (Bill) McIntyre on July 29, 1953. They were married for almost 50 years.
They traveled the World for much of the 1950s with an extended stay in South Africa.
In 1965, they settled in Peachland, BC where they had two daughters.
Mom loved volunteering for various events in Peachland, including the Peachland Fall Fair, and worked as a librarian at the Okanagan Public Library. She built a beautiful garden, full of fruit and walnut trees, on their 3.5 acres overlooking Okanagan Lake.
In 1979, the family moved to Kelowna where Mom continued to work for the Okanagan Public Library until her retirement.
After retirement, she made several trips back to England and then entered a period of her life where she was the happiest: taking multiple trips to Mexico, lying in the sun by the pool or swimming in the ocean.
After Dad passed away in 2001, Mom settled in Vancouver, ultimately ending up in the South Granville area in a small apartment where she led a quiet life on a tree lined street, and enjoyed sitting on her favourite bench outside of Shoppers Drug Mart, watching the world go by.
Mom was especially pleased on April 1, 2026 to celebrate her 100th birthday and receive a message from King Charles III.
She is survived by her two daughters, Angela and Christine and son-in-law Daniel
