Dear Nancy, Julie and Family,
It is an honor to have known your dad. He was a great man and his legacy is his family! Sherman lived life!
He was a guy who did it all. His profession, committees, interests, and family life were all undertaken with the same energy and commitment. I will remember him for his kindness, humor, wisdom, and business acuity! I always tried to listen to him as he would always have something worth hearing. We are thinking of you all and hope you are okay.

I was shocked and saddened to read of Sherman’s death. Brought back many many memories of living in Maple Ridge, riding at the MRC and doing the shows.
I remember his steadiness and patience with many difficult people and his time and dedication to the HCBC. I am so sorry for your loss and send my warmest regards to you all and hugs to everyone. Having only recently lost my own father, I know how deeply his loss will be felt. With warmest regards, Julie Moorcroft

Hi Julie and Nancy, I saw Uncle Sherm`s notice in the paper, So sorry to hear the sad news, In the spring I went to Bengough to see where Your Mom and our family grew up in the tough times Gramma had. Our gatherings at Christmas always bring back fond memories especially when Uncle Sherm and Uncle Ray were frolicking around with of course the Accordian. Your Dad always made sure we had the best glasses.
With LOVE your Cousin
Jim Cousins.

Much sympathy to Nancy and her family on the loss of their dad/grandfather. I will remember Sherman as a charming, gregarious man whose enthusiasm for horses and the horse world was infectious. In the 90s, he coralled me into becoming a director of HCBC and inspired us all with his vision of our national equestrian organization becoming the umbrella group for recreation and industry as well as for sport. Sherman will long be remembered with respect and affection by all of us in the horse world who knew him.

Our thoughts and sympathy go out to all of Sherman’s family. He was an amazing man that made the world a better place. He affected everyone and every organization, that he came in contact with, in a positive way. His love of life was contagious. He could make a cloudy day seem sunny and saw the positive side of every situation and every person.

My sympathies to Sherman’s family. We served together for many years at the Canadian Equestrian Federation and later Equine Canada. Sherman was instrumental in raising the profile of recreational horsemanship and in developing a distinct identity for it within the national organization.
Sherman’s relaxed, approachable style ensured that issues incubated rather than simmered so that solutions were found.
I know that he received many accolades in BC for his work, his contributions to the national scene were no less important.
