Born August 28th, 1932 in Medicine Hat, AB, Fred passed away peacefully, April 11,, 2013 at Royal Columbian Hospital, New Westminster, BC, in the presence of his family. Fred silently fought a diverse number of ailments while never complaining, he maintained a sense of humour and an optimistic outlook on life. During his lifetime, Fred raised a family primarily in the Lower Mainland and Nanaimo, on Vancouver Island. Fred was an exceptionally multi-talented, hard-working, dedicated, practical and proud man whose talents were limited only by his imagination. He spent many happy hours under the hoods of automobiles, raced cars, loved the outdoors; camping, boating, fishing, hunting with brother Cliff, worked on many home renos, always in the company of his favorite four legged friend. As a young man he worked at many jobs such as collecting and selling papers with brother Hugh, worked as a ranch-hand and drove a taxi for the family business. Prior to his retirement, he spent many years as a heavy equipment operator adding dump trucks to his business model, working on many significant projects across this great Province. Fred is predeceased by his parents Frank and Matilda and brother Charles of Nanaimo. Fred will be deeply missed and is survived by his brothers Hugh (Mary) UK, Clifford (Hilda) AB, wife Mary, children Laurie (Bob), Fred Jr., David, Grant (Anita), faithful and devoted companion Sheeba, grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews, extended family and friends.
