Obituary of John Heppner

Please share a memory of John to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.
January 3rd, 1928 – April 5, 2013 We are saddened to announce the passing of our dear father, grandfather, great grandfather, brother and uncle. Born in Drake, Sask., he moved to BC in 1948, where he had a number of jobs before finding his chosen career in pile driving and bridge building with Fraser River Pile and Dredge. He loved his job, and the many characters he worked with. John enjoyed sports and was a good athlete, playing baseball, golf and curling. He hunted, fished and was a great card player, gambler and storyteller. But mostly, John loved his family, was a father who led by example, and showed us how to love. His devotion and care of his wife Nora was truly inspiring. He will not be forgotten. Predeceased by his beloved wife Nora, stepson Jeff, sisters Tina and Anne. He is survived by his children Paul (Linda), Kathy, Heather (Mark), and John, and his step-children David, Norm (Nita), Judy (David), Joe (Angie), and Jon (Cameen) and grandchildren Bradley (Celeste), Tyson (Crystal), Mason, Ineke, Jessica (Jason), Amanda , Nils, Lucas, Izak, Tiare, and great-grandchildren Aleigha, Nora, and Greyson. Also survived by siblings, Mary, Carol (George), Connie, David (Kathy), Sandra (Francis), Ben (Karen) and many nieces and nephews. Memorial services will be held at 2pm on April 20th, 2013 at Garden Hill Funeral Home, 11765 224th St, Maple Ridge. In lieu of flowers, a donation to the Kidney Foundation could be made.
