Obituary of Doreen Marie Colmer

Doreen passed away peacefully on February 20, 2013. She fought Stage 4 breast cancer with courage and grace for nine years, always projecting a positive, no-nonsense attitude; she was truly an inspiration to all who knew her. Doreen found her own inspiration in the three most important people in her life – husband David and sons Curtis and Graham, and made it her highest priority to build lasting memories for her family.
Predeceased by her sister Karen, lovingly remembered by her husband of 20 years David, sons Curtis & Graham, parents Dennis & Helen Houle, brother Michael (Pamela) Houle, and David’s family – mother Evelyn Colmer (Steve Hudak), sisters Deborah (Kip) Lovett, Cheryl (Gerry) Bogle, brother Shawn (Michelle) Colmer, and many nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles, and cousins. Doreen’s family would like to express appreciation to the doctors and nurses at Lions Gate Hospital Cancer Clinic, North Vancouver, and more recently Ridge Meadows Hospital, Maple Ridge, and McKenney Creek Hospice, Maple Ridge.
A memorial service will be held on March 2 at 1 p.m. at Burnett Fellowship Church, 20639 123 Avenue, Maple Ridge.
In lieu of flowers, donations can be made in Doreen’s memory to Ridge Meadows Hospital Foundation or Ridge Meadows Hospice Society.
