Obituary of Jan Chrenowski

Jan Chrenowski was born October 18, 1927 to his parents Luba and Jan Chrenowski, in Slonim, Poland. He had an older sister Zina and younger brother Anatoli. As a young man he served in the Polish army and reached the rank of Sargeant in a Tank Brigade. He married his first wife, Lydia, in Riga, Russia where they had their first child, a son, Anatoli (March 1952). Jan worked in a Russian steel factory and managed various collective farms in 1964, until they immigrated to Canada. They lived in Montreal, Quebec where he worked in a woodworking factory. While living in Montreal Jan and his wife, Lydia had their second child Elena, who later died of pneumonia at 18 months. In 1969, while still living in Montreal, they had their third child, Natalia. In 1970 they moved west to British Columbia where they searched the interior of BC for a place to settle. They finally decided on Grand Forks, BC. Dad had always dreamed of owing some property and building his own house. There he fulfilled his dream. Later his wife Lydia passed away in Nov 1979. Faced with having to raise a son and a young daughter alone, Jan later met a woman named Valentina Neshta. They married in 1980, and resided in Grand Forks until Valentina’s passing in the winter of 2003. Jan later moved out to Chilliwack to be closer to family. Jan moved into a care facility where he was loved and admired for his charismatic personality. Jan reposed in the Lord on Feburary 19th, 2013 in Chilliwack with his daughter by his side. Jan was predeceased by his two wives and daughter, Elena. He is survived by his son Anatoli, daughter Natalia, his sister Zina and brother Anataoli. Memory Eternal – You Will Be Missed.
