I hope the Memorial service for Uncle Danny gave you, his dearly loved family and friends, great comfort at this sad time.
My family here in Scotland, my sister Maureen and her family and the family of my late brother Jim all send our deepest sympathy and love to you all.
Because of the early death of my mother Chrissy, Uncle Danny’s eldest sister, I last saw him in person here in Scotland when I was probably about 3 years old. Contact was lost until a few years ago when a keen interest in genealogy and a burning desire to know much more about my mother’s family prompted me to make contact. I am so glad I did as Danny’s long newsy letters and his enviable good memory helped me get to know something of him, his life in Canada and you, his family, my kin, there.
Unfortunately, I also found out that Uncle Danny and I shared the same type of illness, but I hope I also inherited his strength of character never to give in easily to adversity. I know his deep Faith also sustained him greatly.
To talk with him a few times face to face last year via a video link was such a joy and a memory I will always treasure.

Wanted to express condolences from my family in Inverness, Scotland on the passing of Uncle Danny. I hope Patti and all of Danny’s family be comforted by the many, many special memories of times shared together. Sadly, I had not seen Danny in many years but enjoyed the contact of the last couple of years. Danny supported us greatly on the passing of our mum in 2009 with his anecdotes and memories of their childhood and visits together which was shared and enjoyed at mum’s funeral. His faith was strong and he will be now reunited with those he cared most for.

My thoughts are with all of uncle Danny’s family. Uncle Danny was a great person and someone I looked up to from a very young age on his occasional visits to US in Inverness, Scotland. I was fortunate enough to visit him and pat for the second time 3 years ago. Uncle Danny had an amazing memory for his past and leaves behind a generation below him from the Johnston clan in Scotland. He is now reunited with the rest of his family.

My sincerest condolences to your family with the loss of Don.
I knew and worked with him in the 70s when I came out of UBC as a young engineer. I will always remember him as a great mentor and a most wonderful person. We had some truly memorable times.
Sincerely, Lea
