Obituary of James Russell Lawford

Born June 8, 1914, and passed in the presence of his Lord, Sept. 29, 2012. He trusted Christ as his Saviour July 17, 1931 at age 17. Jim spent four years overseas from 1942-46. He was part of the landing in Normandy on D-day. He and his ambulance were caught behind enemy line; the red cross on the truck was no protection and they were heavily shelled. Jim had a number of other close calls during his war service. He worked as a mechanic in Winnipeg immediately after his discharge, but moved to Vancouver in 1947. He lived in Surrey and worked as a mechanic and property manager till he moved to Hilltop Manor in Langley 8 years ago. Jim is survived by his brother, George, of Portage la Prairie.
