Born in Alloa, Scotland May 22, 1925 Passed away peacefully on September 15, 2012 in Holyrood Manor, Maple Ridge at the age of 87. Predeceased by his wife Nancy in 2009 and his youngest son, Alan, in 1974. Alex moved his family to Maple Ridge in 1969 and lived there for the majority of the proceeding years. He was a founding member of the River Road Soccer Club, where all three of his boys played. He was very proud of his RAF service from 1944 to 1949. He first saw Canada during his training with the Commonwealth Air Training Plan, training and crewing at Boundary Bay and Abbotsford. Past memberships included: RAF Association, Air Crew Association, Air Gunners Association and Burma Star Association. He leaves behind sons Sandy and Colin (Carol), grandchildren Alexander, Kenneth (Katie), Samantha and Eamon. In Scotland, his sister Rita Syme and Harry (Margaret) Blair, Alloa; In-laws Tom and Elsie McArthur in Lockerbie; nieces and nephews Karen (Duncan) Wright, Alloa; John (Christine) Syme, Carnock; Stuart McArthur, Oslo Norway. The family wishes to thank Dr. Chapman and the staff of nurses and caregivers at Holyrood Manor for their tireless care-giving and good-humour toward our father
