Dear Ann, Barbara, Lois and families,
We wish to convey our sincere condolences and deepest sympathy at the loss you have experienced with the passing of dear David, a dear husband, father and grandfather. We recall Dave’s warm-hearted interest in others, his love for the Lord and the assemblies, and his exercise for the spread of the gospel. With many others we have had the privilege of benefiting from his shepherd care and encouragement in the work of the Lord. He has left a worthy example for the Lord’s people.
Dave’s anticipation of the Lord’s presence has now been realized and his joy is full. May the Lord comfort, strengthen and encourage you all in the little while until He that shall come does come.
With Christian love

Our thoughts and prayers are with you all at this very sad time. Even though we are miles apart we feel close at this time cause our Saviour was Dave’s Saviour and we know that The Lord will be close to Ann and the entire family circle at this time. He was a true Gentleman and we have many fond memories.

May the Lord draw especially near to all the family and bless immensely at this time as you say goodnight to dear Dave. This man was a great leader and teacher among us at Victoria Drive for most of the years I was there. He was an example of one who stuck by his convictions and never hestitated to give an explanation as to why he believed them. Many times he could make us laugh, but we always knew and agreed with his point. He taught me so much from example, along with Rena, that has stuck with me through the years. One thing I will never forget him saying, every time he made the announcements prior to the gospel being preached: “we announce these things in the will of the Lord. That is to say, if Jesus hasn’t come…and we believe He could come tonight…and if He does come, we won’t be here. In fact you can watch them take the signs off this building, as we won’t own it any longer and wont’ care what they do with it. We would pray tonight that you would NOT be one of those left behind to see this….” and he would start to choke as he would look straight into the faces of those whose souls were in danger. I will always thank the Lord for his heart in the assembly and in the gospel. May we all have hearts like this. With lots of love, Sherilyn

To the family of David McGaughey:
Dear Ann, Barb, Lois and families, and all family members. We extend our sincerest sympathy in the loss of your dear loved one. A great man has left us, and our thoughts are now of him enjoying the presence of His Lord. We think of his love for the Lord, for his family, for the Lord’s people and his love for souls. He was a great example of a man with a shepherd’s heart and a real gospel spirit. Like David in the scriptures, he “has served his own generation well by the will of God.” In doing so, he has left us a real legacy and an example of a godly, caring leader. His influence will be felt through the life of every person he has impacted.
May you experience peace and comfort from the God of all comfort through the scriptures.
With our continued prayers for you in the days ahead, we send our love,
Gaius and Linda Goff

To the family of our late brother, beloved in the Lord, Mr. Dave McGaughey.
To Ann McGaughey and all the McGaughey family;
We expess our genuine sympathy at the loss of a dear husband, father, grandfather and all members of the McGaughey family.
Our beloved brother Dave is in the ‘betterland’ and has left a wonderful legacy to us of “true shepherd care” for the saints and a soul-winners heart, a lover of Christ, his people and sinners.
We know that the family will miss him, but also know that our dear brother sustained great weakness of body of recent times and are assured that our brother is in that home where all weakness and frailty is gone forever. Soon we shall all be in that land. Happy reunions of streets of pure gold. We assure you all of our prayers and we know that the Great High Priest will give the daily grace and comfort in this time is trial.
We will cherish memories of brother Dave, his care, love and encouragements will ever linger with us. Dave was unique in many ways, had that God-given care for others and left a savor of Christ with us. Wonderful testimony.
Assured of our continual prayers.
By matchless grace
Renewed sympathy and love in our Lord.
Albert & Mae Hull
“Tis” just good-night dear brother, not good-bye,
Morn of re-union quickly draweth nigh,
Morn! What a tearless morning that will be,
When face to face our Savior we shall see.
Thus we today in glorious triumph stand,
Assured our times are in that nail-pierced hand,
And soon we’ll meet where sorrow is unknown,
To sing redemption’s song around the throne.
We are today blest with that ‘bleddeed hope’,
That sorrow, tears and death will soon be gone,
And we with Dave will join the hosts above,
To join heaven’s anthem with the ransomed throng. A.H.

We are touched to hear of Mr. McGaughey’s death as we have many meaningful memories of him from when we lived in Vancouver. He had a big impact in shaping my development as a young believer in Victoria Drive and it was with his encouragement I ventured to take my first “missionary” trips to Nfld. with David Hunt and to Ontario with Shad Kember. Those were necessary stepping stones to where the Lord has brought us today. He married Elizabeth and I just over 15 years ago, and we will not soon forget his quiet dignity tempered by the twinkle in his eye as he encouraged us even after in our early family life, before we moved east. He also signed our letter of commendation when we left for Zambia, and so we remember him as a spiritual father and a godly elder, a man who played an important role in shaping our lives.
We send our love and sympathy to each in the family.
With Christian love,
Sam and Elizabeth

Dear Lois and family—–
So sorry to hear about Dave’s passing.
I have been enjoying this hymn lately.
Blessed hope that in Jesus is given
In our sorrow to cheer and sustain,
That soon with our Saviour in Heaven
We shall meet with our loved ones again.
