Dear Allison,
You will remember our lovely family vacations at your grandparent’s cottage, where Tom made fun of my constantly body at the age of 13. Some of my fondest memories are of that place and its beauty and your wonderful and very special parents and grand parents and how your mother tried to interest my mother in IODE, as we lived, for many years, just a few blocks away from each other and they had both gone through the War.
Having also lost a beloved brother to alcoholism, I often wonder whether we would all be better off naming the disease, which is a #1 killer, masked as heart attack, stroke, cancer or diabetes. In this way we could all get over — sorry to use the cliché– denial, recognize that it is a killer and do something about it. Much love from your friend, Sheila

Dear Dwaina and family. I was so saddened to hear about the loss of Tom. He was an amazing person and beautiful soul. He touched many people and I will never forget him.
My dad spoke highly of him since childhood and loved how Tom put family first and took each day as it came.

I will always be greatful for Thom’s friendship and his endless hours and effort into organizing rides we enjoyed together – from the Baja to “The Top Of The World Highway” in Alaska. We would talk about the things most important to us in our lives,and for Thom, first and foremost, he always considered his family his greatest blessing.
I will miss you.
Ride on Brother.

Dear Dwaina and family; all of us are deeply saddened by the news of Thom’s passing. Many memories of our years as neighbours at Otter Lake, and Thom’s role in making those memories, have been running through our heads:
– organizing Easter egg hunts across our yards;
– mastering the 5-person waterski;
– various hikes into Princeton, to waterfalls, to the top of mountains to leave a flag;
– manning up to build docks and other outdoor contraptions;
– organizing motorcycle tour adventures, which became the Dirty Dog tours;
– watching our children grow strong and fine in the outdoors of Tulameen.
Our hearts are heavy with sadness. Our deepest condolences at this time of great grief. We are richer and honoured for having known Thom.
Love and special thoughts, Anne, Randy, Wyatt and Karli Coupland

I was shocked and saddened to hear of tom’s passing. Burned up alot of
highways and shared lots of laughs with tom. He got me into touring on motorcycles. Tom loved music and now I always ride with the tunes on. A leader of the “dirty dogs” motorcycle club. Damn, gonna miss you dawg! I will pass on some of tom’s influences to my son.

Tom was a classmate two grades ahead of me at Walkerville CI – always remember him as one of the best looking students who always had a kind word to say to everyone. He wore a turtleneck to the Military Ball when everyone else wore suits with ties or uniform kilts and he handsomely stood out in the crowd. My heart goes out to his family.

Dear Dwaina and Family,
Just a note to let you know we’re thinking of you. We hope you find a wee bit of comfort knowing Thom has gone to “ride some great new roads,” and represent some “great new clients on the other side.” We will all miss him terribly, always. Someday, whenever it may be, I look forward to Thom and I, once again, enjoying a “sunrise ride” on a lonely desert road.
