Dear Fantin Clan
I am shocked and saddened, and sincerely sorry for your loss.
I worked with the best during my time with Finning, but Vito stands out as prince. He was able to bring humor into some dungenouse boat engine rooms, making the job bearable, and time and progeress fly. After I became selfemployed Vito also was the only one that would stop on his way home to visit, when he saw my service truck at various docks, and always produced “laugh out loud” commentary
Vito will always have a place in my heart and mind.
With deepest sympathy

We were so saddened to hear about Vito’s passing. We first met Vito when he and Ann came to Winnipeg for our nephew, Rob’s, convocation. With his witty remarks and his infectious chuckle, we instantly took a liking to him. We next had the good fortune of spending time with Vito at Rachel & Rob’s wedding. It was obvious that Vito was very proud of his family. We also discovered that he was a hard working, kind, caring and generous man. Several years later, we were vacationing and passing through Maple Ridge. We stopped in to say ‘hello’ and he kindly invited us to park our RV in his backyard and spend the night. From just these few encounters with Vito we have some wonderful memories, memories that we will cherish.
Ann, our sincerest condolences to you and your family. It may be of little comfort, but know that we are thinking about you during this difficult time.

We are so sorry to hear that your Father has passed on. We know how hard it is to say goodbye to a person who you think of daily and require their advice and input so often. We pray that you find your strength to carry on, in your beautiful family and that your Dad and Mom created. When I think of your Dad I think of a hard worker who was dedicated to making a better life for his family. He definately succeeded! May you get through this time with peace in your hearts from knowing that your Father is in a better place – probably still fixing engines!
All our love and sympathy,

What can I say about Vito. Well he was always so helpful to me. He was very much a respected and true friend to the Albion Ferry family. Everyone loved him, especially me. He would come strolling down the dock with his 350 pound toolboxes ready for whatevever it took and always just a little bit more. Vito will be sorrowfully missed. So sorry for your loss. I was on my way to work as my brother gave me the news. Man that was a shocker. I had to pull over and regroup. Another good person way too young taken from us.
Zia, Sarah, Rachel, Steven, Richard and all the family members all our deepest thoughts are with you.
Zio was a super uncle. He worked his whole life way too hard, (to the maximum) but still always had time for us. He was a honest, dependable, loving, hillarious uncle that enjoyed our family gatherings and the loads of food made by us all.
Stories, jokes and words of wisdom are some of my fondest memories.
I’m really sad that you won’t be there this summer as the boys come back for a visit. We know your guiding spirit will help us along.
God bless you.
You are in our prayers
Love

I love you more than words can begin to describe!
You weren’t just my Zio, you were a second father to me. I could turn to you for advice at anytime and I knew that you were there with an ear to listen and words of truth.
With your witty jokes and great chuckle for a laugh, you could put a smile on anyone’s face! Thank you for being such a wonderful person in my life. For listening to me. Joking with me. Always making me feel welcomed in your home and making me feel that I was always loved and cared for.
I will never forget: “Show some rescpect, no respect, no respect.” “You know us old fossils, we just sit here all day.”
I will miss you forever. I will think of you always. May you fly amogst the other angels and be with Nonni and my mom. Please watch down on us and keep us safe.
Heaven needed another angel – and now they have one of the best!
I love you Zio!

Dear Fantin Family,
We (the Bowden Family) were all stunned to hear about Vito’s death. He was a fine man, and all who met Vito are in mourning for him.
I remember the last time I saw Vito. It was at the home of Sarah’s Zio and cousin Lisa. The decision was made to cancel the larger Fantin family lunch during the Italian celebration in the park because of the weather. Lisa, Sarah’s Zio, Sarah, Anne, Vito and myself enjoyed the food prepared for that day…and some excellent red wine.
Vito was at the head of the table with his glass of wine telling jokes and giving us ‘young people’ words of wisdom. I remember thinking how great the day turned out. We sat, ate, laughed, rolled our eyes at some of Vito’s jokes, and listened to the family stories which gave me a sense of belonging.
I always enjoyed my conversations with Vito, who was one of the select few who was allowed to call me “Sam”. Vito always asked how my parents were doing, and enjoyed talking about veggie gardens with me.
I will continue to think with great affection and pleasure of the many sayings Vito had…as Lisa said, “old fossils”, and I hope your memories of him will be some comfort to you.
Sincerely,
Sammi

We were shocked to hear of Vito’s passing. Ann and all the family we are so sorry for your loss. Larry first met Vito at Finning when he started his apprentiship there and I was blessed to first meet him atop a D8 when I was dating Larry and stopped by to see where he worked. The standing joke from Vito was for me to watch what shoes I wore as he had lost the ends of a few toes from Larry. We were blessed to know him over 40 years. Many fond memories with Ann and Vito and blessed to watch and be a part of their family as the children grew up to fine adults. Vito was our middle son Daryl’s god father. We were blessed to know you Vito. Prayers and hugs are with you all during this trying time of loss. May beautiful memories fill you hearts. Leslie & Larry Goldsby Gods speed Vito
