Obituary of Margaret Ravelli

Please share a memory of Margaret to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.
June 22, 1921 – February 5, 2012 It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of our mother, Margaret. Marg was born at Berrick-Upon-Tweed, Northumberland, England. At the age of 8 her family immigrated to Canada after receiving a land grant from the British Government due to their father’s service with the Royal British Engineers in WWI. After the start of WWII Marg, her father Thomas, her younger brother Tommy, and sister Nancy joined the Canadian Military. Their youngest sister Mary was too young to enlist. Marg’s mother Maggie and daughter Mary were left behind to tend to the farm. In 1943 their father Thomas was injured, sent home to recover and honorably discharged from the Royal Canadian Engineers. At the end of the conflict the children returned home safely and relocated to Dawson Creek, B.C. Family members started their careers, farmed and raised family. Marg had a deep love for all animals, especially horses, and maintained that passion throughout her life. Marg joined the fraternal organization of the Eastern Star and Daughters of the Nile. She remained active in both throughout. She was also active with the CWAC (ex-service women) and the Royal Canadian Legion (Lifetime member). Marg moved to Maple Ridge, B.C. in 1995. Marg touched many people in her life and will be deeply missed by her loving family, friends and colleagues. She is survived by her sister Mary, son Dean in Penticton, daughter Diane (Matt) in Vancouver and many nieces and nephews. If anyone wishes to make a donation they can be made to NFTRA/Therapeutic Riding Assoc. 12471 – 254 St, Maple Ridge, V4R1V4 or the Ridge Meadows Hospital Foundation (Mckenney Creek Hospice) PO Box 5000, Maple Ridge, B.C. V2X7G5. Miss me a little, but not too long and not with your head bowed low. Remember the love we once shared miss me but let me go. A Celebration of Life will be held in early May in Maple Ridge.
