Obituary of Edith Lois Rafuse

Please share a memory of Edith to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.
Edith Lois Rafuse joined her angels on Saturday, May 19, 2018. A celebration of her life is planned for Saturday, June 2, 2018 at 11:00 am, at Garden Hill Funeral Home, 11765 224th St, Maple Ridge. Edith was born on April 29, 1923 in North Vancouver to Nettie and Albert Giffen as the 6th of 7 children. She married Max Rafuse in 1943. Edith and Max moved to Haney in 1947, where they raised four children: Elaine Harris, Ray Rafuse, Debbie Markin, and Brenda Wilkes. In 1980, they moved to Deka Lake where they enjoyed hiking, fishing, travel, and friends until they moved back to Maple Ridge in 2004. Edith was always interested in people and made friends wherever she went. She was an avid dog lover and owned several border collie mixes named Micky until she changed her loyalties to small white fluffy dogs. She was active all her life, and took her dog Ellie walking almost every day. Edith will be remembered for her creativity, compassionate generosity, and gracious spirit. Edith is survived by her husband of nearly 75 years, Max Rafuse, her four children and their spouses, her grandchildren Jennifer Pew and Roger Harris, granddaughter-in-law Melanie Harris, great-grandchildren Sawyer and Scout Harris, her adopted “daughter” Christa Tomlinson and her husband Gary, along with numerous friends, nieces, and nephews. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests contributions to the BC SPCA, 10235 Jackson Rd., Maple Ridge, BC V2W 0A9 or the animal shelter of your choice.
