To all the family of Bretts…….It is with heavy heart that the news has travelled to Kelowna. We always
tried to follow Bretts band when it was possible which wasn’t often enough. A talented musician has
been lost and certainly will be missed by all. His desire to succeed was so strong. It showed in every
gig he played I’m sure. What could have been for Brett we all hoped for. So sad for all. Faye and

My deepest condolences to the Johnson and Tippe family. Brett and Trent always held a special place in my heart, working as a special education assistant at Hammond Elementary. I had many a conversations with Mel about her remarkable “little” boys. I was blown away by Brett’s talent many years ago while watching one of his first performances at Hammond. Later, I had the pleasure of hearing Brett and Trent perform at a New Year’s Eve bash in Chilliwack and was proud to tell all my friends that I knew them and what great kids they were. My thoughts and prayers are with you all.

To my forever friend Mel, ……we have shared so much over our 48 year friendship….but never did i ever want to share this with you! You were my rock and my shoulder that i cried on often in the early days of when we lost our Jesse….and I hope you know from the bottom of our hearts that Terry and I , Greg, Eric and Randy are here for whatever you and Ken and Trent may need! This is a journey that will have many ups and downs along the way…and I can only say that time has proven to me and my family that the day will come when all your wonderful memories will bring more smiles than tears, even though that day may seem far away right now, but you will never forget the wonderful gift he was in your life!. It has been our joy to be part of your childrens lives from the very beginning….and we were equally proud of all of Brett’s accomplishments, and to be called Auntie Bert and Uncle Terry was always special to us, and we so enjoyed all the wonderful musical events Brett , Trent and Ken gave us over the years! I am so glad you all have that special gift of Janine and Hailey in your lives and that you got to see what an amazing dad he was this past year, and the special love he had for his beautiful daughter. I would like to think Jesse and Brett are wearing their cowboy hats , listening to some good “country” tunes, and keeping a very loving watch over all of us….and saying “Don’t cry Mom and Dad, go have some fun for us!!!” Easier said than done I know,….. but they were two special boys who would want only the best for their family’s!!
With all our Love,
Roberta, Terry, Greg, Eric , and Randy Herman

Brett will definitely be missed, although Joan and I didn’t get to see him perform very much in the past few years we thought about him and Trent all the time. We remember the good times he spent at Birch Bay with Elmer and Alice when he was young. There are no words to discribe the feeling of losing a loved one. Ken and Mel it is going to be hard , but that’s what your and Brett’s friends are for support, Brett Rest In Peace

We have known Brett since he was a little guy and will miss him dearly. Having fun jamming with the family … guitars and fiddles and singing old and new country songs is one of our fondest memories and we will continue to make those memories in Brett’s honour. To finally have everything in life he wanted..his fiance Jeanine…his beautiful little girl Hailey…his music and his business ….we had never seen Brett so happy. He will always be in our hearts.

What an awesome soul. And I mean stand back in awe. The joy in music that this family shared, Brett wanted to show the rest of the world. To be able to play music for crowds and fans, but also teach, is something that Brett shared with so many. His enthusiasm for sounds and instruments (some that I had never heard of) was something to admire! We had many talks about family and dreams of making a family for ourselves. He knew without a doubt the want and need for that right lady and wanting a baby to call his own. He was ecstatic. I remember the calls. I FOUND HER… soon after…. WE ARE HAVIBG A BABY! He was so happy.
He filled a spot in my heart as a friend I cannot describe. Watching, seeing and hearing pure joy….. warms all.
Nothing can fill this void, not for me and certainly not for his family. I can only pray that you take comfort in the great man that he was and the mark he left on those who admire and respected him.
I will forever be grateful for the little time I had with him and hope that one day I see you all again and meet “his lady and beautiful little girl”.
