May 23, 1931 – July 28, 2010 It is with saddened hearts we announce the passing of Stan, a loving and devoted husband, father, grandfather, brother and uncle. He has finally found peace after his courageous 15 year battle with cancer. He was born to the late Stanley and Eleanor Lilley in Half Moon Bay, BC. Stan grew up along the Sunshine Coast moving between the Logging Camps that employed his father. As a young man, the family came back to the “Lilley Homestead” in Websters Corners. Here he met the love of his life – Betty Watson and they were married in August 1956. In 1955 Stan began his lifelong labour of love building their home. He was an exceptionally skilled carpenter, creating every aspect of his home and park like gardens. Building, renovating, gardening or decorating, Stan was always involved in a project of some sort. Stan, a successful small Businessman, owned and operated 3 businesses in Maple Ridge. His first venture in 1964 was to take over Stoltz Motor Freight. Next came Lougheed Texaco (Esso) in 1967, a business he thought he would have for a couple of years, but turned into 30! In 1987 he opened a second location, Start Automotive, with his son Art. In 1997 Stan fully retired when Tim joined Art. The following years were spent traveling, working on his home or in his beloved gardens. Stan is survived by his wife Betty and sons Art (Kelly), Tim (Cheryl) and Scott (Wendy). One of the greatest joys in his life, were his grandchildren: Chrystalyn, Timmy, Arthur, Sean, Eric and Tess. He also leaves his brother Gordon (Barb), sister-in-law Mary Brown, extended family and dear friends. He will be missed by all who were lucky enough to cross his path in life. Thank you to Dr. Ben Yokoyama for all of his care.
