Robert Thomas Franklin Obituary

July 27, 1921 – October 11, 2011


It is with great sadness that the family of Bob Franklin announces his passing. He was a beloved husband, brother, father, grandfather, great grandfather, and uncle. Bob is survived by his loving wife June, brother Tony (Alma), brother-in-law Bob (Mary), his children Ann (Terry), Sue (Gord), Rob (Lois), Kathy (Will), Jim (Cathy) and son-in-law Jim (Ellen), 11 grandchildren and 4 great grandsons. Bob was born in Maple Ridge on July 27, 1921 and attended Alexander Robinson Elementary and MacLean High School. He served as a wireless operator during WWII and after the war worked for Canada Post for 30 years before retiring in 1976 as Assistant Post Master. As well as an enthusiastic gardener and handyman, Bob was an avid fi Sherman and an active member of the Maple Ridge Rod and Gun Club. He was also an active member of the Royal Canadian Legion, Branch 88 and volunteered to help raise funds at Legion Bingo.


Special thanks to Dr. Chapman and the staff at Ridge Meadows Hospital for their care over the last few months.


Bob will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved him and will be remembered by all of the lives that he touched. He was truly a gentleman.


A memorial service will be held on Saturday, October 22, 2011 at 11:00 am at Burnett Fellowship Baptist Church” Burnett Fellowship Baptist Church, 20639 123 Ave, Maple Ridge.
