Obituary of Val Philpott

July 27, 1958 – March 3, 2018 It is with great sadness that our sister Valerie left us to be with our mother and father and her common-law husband Dave of 25 years who all predeceased her. She was born and raised in West Vancouver for 18 years then the remainder of her years were spent in Maple Ridge. Val was a talented artist and very thoughtful and generous to all who knew her. Her last 15 years were full of sickness and hardship but every now and then she would smile and the whole world smiled back. Many thanks to Dr. Sommi, her doctor for many, many years, Tanya, Cheryl and Jay, who all helped her and guided her for the last 2 years of her life. All the hospitals she went to over the years, you couldn’t get better staff, St. Paul’s, Tri Cities Dialysis, Ridge Meadows, Eagle Ridge, Royal Columbian, you were all so kind and she always bounced back. But this time she was just too tired. We will always be proud of her accomplishments and the desire to keep going. What a trooper. We will always have her in our hearts. She leaves behind her sister Heather (Dan) and brother Nyles of Hope, BC. Her nephew Colin of Vancouver, nieces Alana of Vernon and Liza of Clearwater and their families and all her friends from Maple Ridge. A Celebration of her life will be held at Garden Hill Funeral Home, 11765 224 Street, Maple Ridge, on Tuesday, April 3, 2018 at 2pm. In lieu of flowers please give generously to the Alouette Addiction Services in Maple Ridge.
