Obituary of Ethel Hiebert

Born May 9, 1927 – Died September 29, 2017 Ethel Hiebert, beloved mother, grandmother and great-grandmother passed away suddenly, but peacefully, surrounded by her immediate family. An only child, Ethel was predeceased by her parents Joe and Nellie Atherton, her husband John, five years ago her daughter Lynda, and later Lynda’s spouse Maynard. Ethel is survived by her children Diane, John (Cindy), and Brian (Anna). She was most proud of her beloved grandchildren who she asked about frequently: Amanda and Jamie, Clint (Denise) and Carma, Chris (Bri), Melissa (Grant) and Michelle, and Bria, Milana and Allegra. She was lucky enough to have great-grandchildren Ethan, Kinzo, Arianni, Josh and Hudson. Ethel was a selfless, kind and generous person whose life centered around family, friends and raising her children – a job she took extremely seriously and in her mind never ended, even at the age of 90. She was much loved and will be greatly missed. Her family would like to express a special thank-you to her former neighbors Faheem and Qaisara who kept an eye on our mother in her later years while still living on her own, to the staff of Independent Matters who took such good care of her in her last 8 months, and to daughter Diane, son John and daughter-in-law Cindy who doted on her since her move to Maple Ridge.
