Originally of Monster, The Netherlands, more lately of Maple Ridge, B.C. and Ottawa, Ontario, age 90 years.
Lena passed away peacefully at New Orchard Lodge, Ottawa, on Saturday July 15, 2017 under the care of much devoted staff and with her daughter by her side. Predeceased by her loving husband Henry (2005) and siblings Jo, Dita, Kees, Nel, Bep, Frank and Lodewyk, she will be missed by brothers Piet and Adri, her children Otto (Janet), Rob, Irene (St John) and Rita (Jim) as well as her grandchildren Miranda (Ruby), Oberon, Titania, Samantha, Sasha and Jenna.
Lena was born in the Netherlands, trained as a nurse, and immigrated to Canada in 1958 to marry her pen pal Henry. She was a hardworking, patient and caring person in all aspects of her life. A gentle soul.
Friends and family are invited to share memories at Garden Hill Funeral Home, 11765 224th Street, Maple Ridge, on Saturday, October 7, 2017 at 1:00pm. Interment will take place at the Maple Ridge Cemetery at 11:00am on October 7, 2017.
