Please share a memory of Garland to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.
July 15, 1935 – July 24, 2017 It is with great sadness and sorrow that we announce the sudden passing of Gar Stuart a beloved husband, father and friend. Gar passed away suddenly on July 24, 2017 at the age of 82. He was predeceased by his loving wife of 49 years Katherine (Kathy) and will be deeply missed by his children, Wendy Stuart, Susan Stuart (Lance), Jackie Hogue (Barry), grandchildren Andrea (Aaron) and great grandchildren, Asher and Asa. Gar was born on July 15, 1935 in Vancouver, BC, one of 8 children. Gar was an avid soccer fan, playing the game competitively growing up in Vancouver, but later in life found himself drawn to the friendships made through the activity of Snooker at Bonsor Seniors Center and Lawn Bowling at South Burnaby Lawn Bowling Club. For many years, Gar and Kathy spent most of their weekends at Birch Bay Leisure Park, enjoying the company of family and friends. Gar will be greatly missed by his family, many friends and those who he touched through his many social activities. He will be remembered for his dedication to his three daughters, his sense of humor and the warm way he spoke to you when you were in need of a friend. All are welcome at a celebration of life to be held on Friday, July 28, 2017 at 11:00 am at Corpus Christi Catholic Church, 6350 Nanaimo Street, Vancouver BC, which will be celebrated by his nephew The Most Reverend Gary Gordon, Bishop of Victoria. A reception will follow at the church. Interment to follow at Ocean View Cemetery.
