Mr. Hotell was my 6th grade teacher about ~16 years ago. His kindness, humor, patience, and profound wisdom have remained a vivid memory for me to this day. I'm very saddened to hear about his passing and I send my deepest condolences to his family.

Thanks Dale for the great memories of mountain hosting on Blackcomb. We will all miss your legendary afternoon jokes before skiing out!

Dale and I were best friends during our days at PGSS and serving in the RMR Cadets and Militia. Combined with our friendship are several "Tall" but true stories of adventure and general foolishness that seem to accompany 16 to 20 year-olds. These have been carefully enshrined in my personal history but, in an effort to avoid embarrassment and/or possible criminal charges, will not be published until all of our posterity have vanished from the face of the earth. Dale, John Fotos, Bob Morris, and I were the gallant four horsemen of early 1960's Prince George. I lost touch with all of them after I ran off to join the Navy and now find myself the sole survivor of the quartet; left to relish the memories.

Dale was my grade 5 teacher during the 1974-75 school year at Lord Baden Powell Elementary School in Coquitlam. Even after the passage of 45 years, when I think back to grade school, I recall “Mr. Hotell” as being one of the really good ones. He brought an extra effort to his class that demonstrated how much he cared about the kids. I’m grateful to have benefited from his commitment to his profession, and am sorry to learn of his passing. – D. Hunter.
