Obituary of William James Groves
Please share a memory of William to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.
September 22, 1931 – May 16, 2020
On Saturday May 16, 2020, William (Bill) Groves, loving husband and grandfather, passed away at the age of 88 in Maple Ridge B.C. Born in Belfast, Northern Ireland on September 22, 1931, Bill was passionate about snooker, Elvis, and football, and remained a lifelong fan of his beloved team Dundela FC. He always looked forward to visiting Ireland for family events during the football season. Bill was an animal lover who enjoyed gardening, farming, and his involvement with the Haney Presbyterian Church. He was a generous and caring man who always made time to help others.
After moving to London, England in 1960 to start a family, Bill emigrated to Port Coquitlam, B.C. in 1974 and bought a pet-food store in North Vancouver. Bill always loved laughing and joking with his customers, friends, and family. His quick wit and killer dance moves will be sorely missed by all who knew him. Bill is survived by his wife Violet, sons Paul and David, daughter-in-law Leslie, and grandchildren Amy, Hannah, Dylan, and Chelsea.
Bills’ ashes will be brought to Ireland for a proper send-off when it is safe to do so.
