Wife, Mother, Grandmother, Aunt, Teacher, Friend ~
Betty is survived by her family: Husband Albert; Son Bert (Jodi); Son Joe (Angela) and Grandchildren Brad and Taliah; Brother-in-law Richie; Sister-in-Laws Emily and Jackie.
Betty was predeceased by her parents Cyril and Betty (Grandbet) Carey; Siblings Anne, Ted and Fred. She was a beloved Aunt to many nieces, nephews, and family friends.
Betty married into a large Italian family and is connected to the Borsato, Giacomelli, Masaro, and Pasqualotto family trees. These families along with the Carey family and many of her personal friends and friends of her sons’ create a large group of individuals that will miss her dearly.
Betty’s focus was her husband, two sons and her extended family. She was a proud graduate of St. Francis Xavier University in Antigonish, Nova Scotia.
Betty was an athlete who played college basketball and enjoyed playing tennis. During her college years she spent summers as a lifeguard and as a swimming instructor. She had a highly successful career teaching in Halifax, Moncton, Montreal, Calgary, Salmon Arm, and finally retiring at Maple Ridge Senior Secondary. Betty received a great deal of enjoyment from her photography hobby. The family cottage in Great Village, Nova Scotia, was a very important place in her life.
A private family funeral will take place shortly. A larger celebration of life may take place in the future. Please say a prayer for Betty.
