Obituary of Allan John Rausch

August 17, 1942 - July 4, 2021

It is with mixed emotions that we say goodbye to our dad, Al Rausch, who passed away peacefully on July 4, 2021.  While we are sad that we will no longer be able to listen to his stories we rejoice that he is now home with his Saviour and reunited with Dori, the love of his life.

Al is survived by his son Dan (Christine) and his grandchildren Jordan (Liesl), Rebecca, Mitchell and Nicole and his great-granddaughter Elara; daughter Sandi (Barry) and grandchildren Danielle, Jarred, Dominique, Jakob, Desiree, Juliette and Darian. 

"Al your pal" was the type of person who could strike up a conversation with anyone.  He remembered everyone's name and always asked about details of your life and family that you told him about the last time he saw you.  Al worked most of his life as a construction electrician, many times driving long hours to get back home to his family for a weekend.  He was an avid sports fan who could tell you the stats about players in hockey, baseball and football.  He loved to "putter" in his yard and especially enjoyed caring for Dori's rose garden.

Al was a man of strong faith who called himself a "Christian who happened to be Catholic".  He volunteered at every church he attended, and enjoyed being involved in all aspects of the church community.

The most important thing to Al was his family.  He was the hub of the wheel who kept everyone informed of news from not just his immediate family but of brothers, sisters, nieces, nephews, cousins, aunts, uncles and all those in between.

A prayer service will be held on July 15, 2021 at 7:00 pm at St. Luke's Catholic Church in Maple Ridge, followed by a funeral Mass on July 16, 2021 at 11:00 am.

In lieu of flowers donations may be made to the BC Cancer Foundation.
