AFTER A 8 MONTH BRAVE BATTLE WITH LUNG CANCER WE LOST OUR DEAR MOTHER SIMONE AT THE AGE OF 80 YRS. SHE WAS EQUAL PARTS CYNIC & SENTIMENTAL, SOFTIE & NO NONSENSE. DESPITE A VERY CHALLENGING & DIFFICULT CHILDHOOD, SHE GREW INTO AN ETHICAL, KIND, FAIR, WISE, & HONEST WOMAN. THE SPACE SHE HAD IN SO MANY HEARTS ACCROSS THIS LAND WILL NEVER BE REPLACED OR FORGOTTEN. SURVIVED BY SIBLINGS JERRY & ANDRE & JACKIE LAFOND CHILDREN; ELIZABETH, MICHAEL & ROBERT PRE-DECEASED BY THE LOVE OF HER LIFE CLAUDE HEROUX JUNE 3RD 2016 ( PICTURED ABOVE) AND OUR FATHER GEORGE SCHMIDT APRIL 1ST 2009 AND TOO MANY FRIENDS AND RELATIVES TO LIST HERE BORN IN IRIQUOIS FALLS ONTARIO IN 1942 SHE MOVED ALL AROUND ONTARIO UNTIL SHE MARRIED GEORGE SCHMIDT IN 1959, IN 1963 WITH 2 SONS IN TOW THEY MOVED TO MONTREAL WHERE A DAUGHTER COMPLETED THE FAMILY IN 1981 AFTER MUCH SOUL SEARCHING SIMONE & GEORGE PARTED WAYS... AND IN 1982 SHE MET HER TRUE SOULMATE OF 35 YRS CLAUDE HEROUX THEY WERE AS MUCH IN LOVE THE DAY HE DIED AS 2 PEOPLE CAN BE AND HE SEWED HIMSELF TO OUR HEARTS AND SOULS, SO THAT WE CANNOT THINK OF ONE OF THEM WITH OUT THE OTHER. SO BEGAN THE TRANSFORMATIVE AND HEALING LOVE AND ADVENTURE... IN 1983 SHE BEGAN HER ADVENTURES WITH CLAUDE WHEN THEY MOVED TO ONTARIO, HER DAUGHTER LIZ FOLLOWED A FEW YEARS LATER, AND IN 1994 MOVED IN WITH LIZ AND HER HUSBAND RAY, IN GEORGETOWN ,ONTARIO. TO BE CLOSE TO HER SONS, (ALREADY ON THE WEST COAST FOR A FEW DECADES) WHERE THEY BOTH LIVED THE REST OF THEIR LIVES HAPPY & STILL IN LOVE , KEEPING HER SONS ON THEIR TOES AND CONSTANTLY THANKFUL FOR THEIR HUMOUR AND WIT AND DEEP SOULFUL INSIGHT. WE TAKE COMFORT IN ALL OF YOU WHO KNEW AND LOVED SIMONE & WE FEEL LESS ALONE TO KNOW YOU SHARE OUR LOSS.
