Obituary of Emily Claire Long

It is with great sadness her family announces Claire Long (nee Johnston), 74, passed away suddenly on December 15, 2022 in Maple Ridge, BC.

Claire is survived by her husband of 49 years, John, children Gillian, Renita Yu (Jeffrey) and Garrett, cherished grandchildren Josephine and Oscar, sisters Pat and Anne Marie and many nephews and nieces. She is preceded in death by her father Edward, mother Alice and brother Ron.

Claire was born in Sarnia, Ontario in 1948 and grew up in Sudbury. While she lived in BC for over 50 years, she was always excited to meet someone from Sudbury to see if they knew anyone in common. She worked in the payroll department of BCIT for 20 years where her cheery helpfulness made her a much loved figure. She was a member of the Catholic Women’s League for many years.

Claire was a kind, loving woman who always saw the best in everyone and will be greatly missed by family and friends. 

 

Visitation to be held at St. Patrick's Catholic Church, Maple Ridge, Friday, January 6th at 6:30 pm. 

Funeral service to be held at St. Patrick's, Saturday, January 7th at 11:00 am, reception to follow.
