In loving memory of Susan Frances Madlung born on September 21, 1950, to Garnett and Lillian Claffey, in Altrincham England. Susan peacefully passed away on July 9, 2023, in Maple Ridge British Columbia. Susan was the cherished wife of Henry (Hank) Madlung, and a loving mother to Scott Madlung, Brandi (Tristan Getten) Ross, and Don (Gita) Madlung. Susan adored being a grandmother to Piper and Leighton Ross, and Briston, Raylen, Oaklyn and Maevyn Madlung, all of whom she loved beyond measure. Susan is survived by one brother, Peter Claffey of Edmonton. 

For all that Susan was and all that she had accomplished, she valued nothing higher than her family, her well-loved friends running a near second. She gave all that she was supporting others. Anyone who’d been gifted with her love were left in no doubt that they were cared for by the finest.

Susan was a keen learner and avidly pursued professional development in her chosen field, gaining certification and degrees in Gerontology, a field of special interest to her. An accomplished woman, Susan Graduated with an MSc, Gerontology (with Merit) from the University of Southampton in March 2007, a BScN in Geriatric Nursing from the University of Victoria, and a GNC, Gerontology from the Canadian Nursing Association. 

Using her acquired knowledge and skills, Susan dedicated the past several decades of her life supporting the well-being of people living on the aging continuum. Susan strove daily to ensure the people she was charged with caring for had the best possible lives. Improving and preserving the quality of life for folks was a commitment she made to everyone, patients, friends and family. 

Susan will be deeply missed by all who knew her, and her family would like you to join the Celebration of her life on August 3, 2023, from 3 pm-7 pm at Garden Hill Funeral Home in Maple Ridge. 11765-224 St., Maple Ridge, B.C.
