Mariette Julienne Viens Obituary

In the early morning of Jan. 14th, 2024, Mariette passed away peacefully at Ridge Meadows Hospital.

Mariette was born in Saint-Liboire Québec on Dec. 8th, 1930 and emigrated to Alberta then to BC.  She was a courageous, strong woman with fierce will and quick wit.  She had endured and overcome much in her life.  A survivor of the Great Depression and an orphanage, she had many stories from her life to regale us all with.  With these animated anecdotes, our mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, connected us to our culture and heritage.

Mariette was a jovial spirit who enjoyed social gatherings and travel.  She made new friends at Royal Crescent Gardens with whom she participated in games and social events.  Thank you to the staff at Royal Crescent for the care you gave to Mariette in her final days.

Mariette will join her husband Arthur, her daughter Charmaine, and her sister Juliette in the afterlife.  She is survived by her children, Paul, Norman, Raymond, and Natasha.  Her grandchildren Sharon, Patrick, Melanie, Cathy, Olivia, Ethan, Damien, Sereena, Jentile, Destiny, Ashley, Justin, Savannah, and Jayden and her great grandchildren Lexi, Sierra, Austin, River, Carter, Emme, Martin, MacKenzie, Riley, and Jesse.  She is survived by her last remaining sibling, Jean-Claude Massé.

Mariette will be greatly missed by her family and friends but she is at peace with the Lord.

Service will be held on March 27th, 2024 at Garden Hill Cremation and Funeral Services 11765 224th St. Maple Ridge.  Time TBA.
