Obituary of Donald Rae Swaile

Our beloved husband, father, uncle and papa passed away peacefully surrounded by family Friday March 29, 2019 after complications from vascular disease. Don was deeply loved and will be sorely missed by his loving family: wife Edie, son Derek (Heather), daughter Dyan (Francis), grandchildren Natasha, Lauryn, Madelyn, Jack and Nicolas, along with many nieces, nephews and cousins. Don was born in Chilliwack and grew up throughout BC. At 18 Don moved to Vancouver where he began his career in the travel industry and met the love of his life Edie. After marrying in 1964 they settled in Port Moody and started a family. Family meant everything to Don. Together with Edie they provided a loving, caring and welcoming home to all family members. His family grew to include five adoring grandchildren and he was a gentle, loving and interested Papa. Don spent over 50 years in the BC travel industry and was a well respected leader, mentor, entrepreneur and colleague to many. Travel was Don’s passion. He took great joy and pride in sharing his travel adventures with others and worked to create trips of a lifetime for his clients. You were in good hands with Don. A celebration of Don’s life will be held Tuesday, April 16th, 11:30 am at Golden Ears United Church in Maple Ridge. In lieu of flowers, donations to the BC Heart & Stroke Foundation or BC Cancer Agency would be appreciated.
