Obituary of Carol Lorraine Reed

September 11,1958-March 16, 2024

Carol Reed (Nee Granholm), beloved wife, mother and grandmother passed away at Royal Columbian Hospital on March 16th – predeceased by husband Brent, and survived by daughters Jessica (Brett), Emily (Ron), Melissa (Matt) and Robin (Graham), and grandchildren Asher, Bentley, Jacob, Vada, Noah, Keelan and Winnie.  

Those who knew Carol will always remember her loyalty, gentleness, thoughtfulness, enthusiasm and faith.  She loved to laugh and learn, and have lively discussions with friends and family.  She always welcomed sharing a cup of tea with the people in her life.  Her grandkids will always remember how she came to watch them play lacrosse, how she read books to them and how she challenged them to her favourite board games – especially scrabble!  Throughout her years she enjoyed reading, gardening, flowers and nature; and she remained steadfast in and motivated by her Biblical faith.  

Carol was born in New Westminster on September 11th to Clarence and Rosalie Granholm.  She is survived by her two brothers Les (Joan) and Ed (Lori), and her sister Sheila.  Carol experienced most of her childhood years in Maple Ridge, eventually establishing a home there with her husband Brent, where they raised their four daughters.  They moved into their own Maple Ridge house 40 years ago, and she embraced her home there until the time of her passing.  

Carol’s love for family and friends was obvious and now we are saddened to say goodbye.  Nevertheless, we will continue to cherish the wonderful conversations and the many precious moments we have shared with her over the years.  We will never forget her caring, considerate and tender-hearted way.  We are all so very grateful for the time we had.  

The funeral service for Carol will be hosted at Garden Hill Funeral Home at 11am, on Thursday, April 11th.  This will be preceded by the burial at 10am (Maple Ridge Cemetery).
