Obituary of Donna Marjorie Pickup

It is with sad hearts that we announce the passing of our loving and devoted mother on Saturday, the 14th of May, 2016. We are so blessed to have celebrated her 86th birthday on the 7th of May and a final Mother’s Day. Mom goes on to meet our Lord and Savior. She will be joining her husband of 62 years John Clyde Pickup 1927 – 2014 and her parents Harold Maxwell Mckenzie and Marjorie Evelyn Cross (Watts). Donna was born May 7th, 1930 in Fort Garry, Winnipeg, Manitoba. Her education; in Home Economics was so appreciated by family and friends especially holiday pies. Later training on the comptometer led her to clerical work at Flavell Cedar in Port Moody and Whonnock Lumber. She married our Dad Clyde in 52 and Traveled over the Rockies in 54 to our “Little piece of paradise”, Thornhill, BC to start a Mink Ranch. Here she and our Dad raised 3 children; Tamara Dawn, Valerie Lori Lynne and Gregory Clyde. Donna had a deep love and devotion to her family. She loved all times together. We had many great and memorable camping trips and a wonderful trip to Disneyland. She took us to Dance, Music, Baseball and School Sports and Greg’s Motocross. She sewed, baked, volunteered, supported us, taught us and loved to laugh with us. Mom loved music, playing piano, accordion and Hawaiian guitar. She loved to dance and sing and had a beautiful voice. After 34 years on Thornhill Mom and Dad moved into Haney and then spent their remaining days in Holyrood Manor retirement home. Mom will forever be loved and cherished by her younger brother Gordon Cross, daughters Tammy Stevens (Pickup) and David Gilmore, Lori Wyllie (Pickup) and Stephen Wyllie, and son Gregory Clyde Pickup as well as beloved Grandchildren Alanna, Breanna and Carley Stevens, Kurtis (Brianne) and Andrew Wyllie, plus friends and family in Winnipeg and around the world. Thank you to Dr. Naidoo, devoted nurses, care aides and staff at Holyrood and Ridge Meadows Hospital. Services will be held on Thursday, May 26, 2016. Burial will be held at 1:00pm at Maple Ridge Cemetery followed by a Memorial Service led by Rev. Gerard Booy at 2:00pm at the Haney Presbyterian Church, 11858 216th Street, Maple Ridge.
